Q: I am jumping out of my socks with excitement about going to Oakfire Adventures, but I have an existing medical condition, can I take part?

  • Back or neck injury
  • Epilepsy
  • Head injury
  • Pregnancy
  • Previous dislocation

While special arrangements may be made for some that fall within this category those arrangements have to be in place before you visit the site.

All participants will be required to fill out the health and safety declaration form and insurance waiver. There are health & safety regulations in place that must be followed to ensure a safe and enjoyable time. If you have any concerns about medical conditions then please give us a call.

Q. I'm afraid of heights…….

The Giant Swing is designed to help you build your confidence before you jump or swing. It really is just a way of letting it all go, no one will push you to do anything that you don’t want to but we will get you to push your limits and hopefully surprise yourself!

Q. Who can do it?

The Giant Swing is a huge hit with adults, children, families, stags, hens, individuals, groups, schools and companies. All you need is a willingness to try something new and exhilarating! Oakfire Adventures encourages everyone to have a go, we enjoy hosting groups with learning difficulties, amputees, deaf, blind and much more. Sadly the sheer nature of the activity stops us from allowing full disabled access however we would encourage you to phone 0800 121 6242 to find out more. You might be surprised.

Q. Do I need to be fit?

You don’t need to be at the peak of physical fitness, as long as you can walk over paths / lanes along the picturesque Faughan Valley then there should be no problem. It might reassure you to know that it is near impossible for a person to stop because they weren't fit enough to walk around our site. The activities are no more than 500 metres from our car park.

Q. What should I wear?

Leave the Jimmy Choo’s at home or in the car. No flip flops, sandals or flippers are allowed on the course as they may fall off as you participate. You will be walking along country paths and lanes so wear something you don’t mind getting dirty, have good grip and support your ankles. For your enjoyment and safety, we recommend loose and comfortable clothing but skirts are a definite no no; in some cases you're going to be high in the air after all. Check out the weather forecast for the day and dress accordingly.

Q. When should I get there?

Set your alarm clock! It's important to arrive at least 15 minutes before your allocated time slot as the site may be busy. If you are late, we will do all we can to get you into another slot but we can't always promise this, especially on busy days, plus no refunds can be given. The best thing to do is leave in plenty of time.

Q. Is it safe?

We go over the top on safety so you can go over the top safely. All elements are tested prior to a days activity with regular outside independent inspections performed to make sure safety procedures are maintained and regulated. Elements are supervised by trained instructors, state-of-the-art equipment, thorough safety briefing on all elements & staff always on hand to advise & reassure, your safety is our No 1 priority.

Q. How long does it take?

This varies dramatically depending on the activities you choose to do, your level of confidence, people in front of you and the number of people on site. As a general guide however, we recommend you allow at least an hour per adventure (paintball is different, please check sister site).
